Knowing something intellectually vs. knowing it emotionally
"There is a difference between knowing something intellectually and knowing it emotionally; knowing it in a way that echoes on a deep core level. Sometimes the most obvious truths are some of the most difficult to assimilate...and until we learn them, they will keep popping up in our lives."

I wonder which one is better to trust? I would suspect the emotional one, even though "logic" would insist it be the intellectual one. Fun quote, Rebecca.

Thanks Patrick! My interpretation of this is that there is a difference between knowing something intellectually and knowing it from experience. We think we know what an event or experience will be like or how it will make us feel, but until we have lived it, it is my opinion that we do not, in fact, really know...
DeleteSo true!! If more people understood this, they would be less baffled by "human nature," politics, sports fanaticism, "actin' crazy" in relationships, and the way movies and books can make you jump with fright, shout with indignation, or weep with sadness or joy even though you know it's fiction.
